There is an FAQ covering ASE on Linux at Michael Peppler's site.


It contains a fair bit of information about running Sybase ASE on Linux and if you are interested in doing just that, then go read it. It certainly will answer your question about why, after a new install, you can connect from the server that ASE is installed on but no other client. (I am not going to tell you here, you will have to go and read it :-)
