ISUG's New Partner Agreement With eLearnIT Makes Innovative Education Methods Available To Sybase Users Everywhere

DUBLIN, Calif., June 24, 2009 — The International Sybase User Group, a trade association representing more than six thousand members in more than sixty countries around the globe, has reached an agreement with web-based skills training company eLearnIT, LLC. Under the agreement, ISUG will become the exclusive marketing and sales agent for eLearnIT's new online PowerBuilder training courses.

Fronted by one of the most recognized and revered PowerBuilder educators of the last decade, eLearnIT's soup-to-nuts PowerBuilder Core Skills training course enables professional software developers as well as second year Technical College IT students to rapidly develop a comprehensive PowerBuilder skill set. Upon completion of the core course, a developer will be capable of building their own PowerBuilder workgroup scale application from scratch or performing maintenance tasks on an enterprise scale application.

“eLearnIT has developed an innovative online delivery mechanism for its educational courses that IT professionals will find intuitive and easy to use,” said Mike Harrold, Executive Director for ISUG. “Coupled with eLearnIT's extensive PowerBuilder knowledge, the courses to be offered will be comprehensive, market-relevant and extremely affordable due to their web-based delivery mechanism.”

“We believe that one of the major causes of the acute shortage of skilled PowerBuilder developers in the market today is the lack of cost effective, high impact core skills training” said Yakov Werde, President of eLearnIT, LLC. “Current global economic conditions makes taking five days off from work, while paying thousands of dollars in tuition and travel expenses for live classroom training off the radar for most organizations' employees.”

eLearnIT's flagship training product employs current rich media technologies, formulated from more than a decade of experience in training thousands of new PowerBuilder developers. The web-based program is delivered in a self-paced format that offers an always-available, live classroom-quality experience for a fraction of the price of on-site training. Coupling the quality of the content with an ISUG-hosted learner support forum, every student will receive a real web 2.0 learning experience.

Product Availability and Pricing
The first PowerBuilder course will be made available to ISUG members starting in July 2009, with general availability to follow thereafter. Pricing will begin at $699, with premium add-ons available for an additional cost. For more information, visit www.isug.com/pbtraining.

DUBLIN, Calif, May 21, 2009: The International Sybase User Group (ISUG) today announced the first five dates of a series of user group meetings it will be hosting throughout the rest of the year focused on the soon-to-be launched PowerBuilder 12 Community Technology Preview.

Each meeting will include a review of new technology scheduled for release in PowerBuilder 12, followed by a hands-on session where attendees will get to navigate their own way through various aspects of the CTP, all under the watchful eye of a Sybase PowerBuilder expert.

"A Community Technology Preview is designed to solicit informative feedback from the members of the community at which the product is aimed," said Mike Harrold, ISUG Executive Director. "It therefore makes perfect sense to introduce PowerBuilder users to the CTP through their local Sybase user groups."

The dates announced today are:

  1. June 2nd -- Boston: Sybase North East Kingdom Users Society (SNEKUS)
  2. June 4th -- New York City: New York City PowerBuilder User Group (NYCPBUG)
  3. June 9th -- Minneapolis: Minnesota Sybase User Group (MNSUG)
  4. June 23rd -- Houston: Sybase Users' Group of Texas (SUG-TX)
  5. June 25th -- Denver: Denver Sybase User Group (DENSUG)

Complete information on each of these meetings, along with registration information, can be found online here. Seating is limited at each meeting, so interested users should register as soon as they know they will be attending. There is no cost to attend, but preference will be given to members of ISUG and the user group hosting the event.

DUBLIN, Calif, April 17, 2009: Building on the recent enhancements to its members-only website to promote social networking within the community, the International Sybase User Group today announced the addition of Wikis and Media Libraries to My.ISUG.com.

First created in 1994, Wikis have become a de facto standard on the internet for collaboration and knowledge sharing between users within a topic of common interest.

“We believe that the more methods of collaboration that we can provide our members with, the stronger the community becomes,” said Mike Harrold, ISUG Executive Director. “The addition of Wikis to the website will enable us to build a knowledge base for users of Sybase products that will be unparalleled.”

Media libraries consist of photographic slideshows and can be placed either on a member's 'MyPage' or on a community page.

“Our members often wish to share their photographs from conferences and user group meetings with other members of the community,” noted Cindy Bean, ISUG VP of Membership. “The new media libraries will make this incredibly easy, typifying the community spirit that ISUG works so hard to promote.”
